Dr. James Donahue is the Principal Investigator of Coastal Health Care, located in Freeport, Maine. He has an expertise in all therapeutic areas as a primary care physician, with over 19 years of experience in clinical drug studies.
Dr. Donahue is also currently the Medical Director at Coastal Manor Nursing Home (since 1995), Beacon Hospice Augusta Office (since 2008), and Beacon Hospice Lewiston Office (since 2009). He graduated from John Carroll University with a BS in Biology (with a minor in Chemistry), followed by a Doctor of Osteopathic Degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is also board certified in Family Practice by the American Board of General Practice, with advanced qualifications in Geriatric Medicine and a Certified Medical Director since 1995.
Dr. Donahue, with Coastal Health Care, is currently participating in the STAR Studies clinical trials. Focused on people with mild to moderate Alzheimer's who are currently taking the drug Aricept, the trial medication is thought to target different brain receptors than currently approved medications do.
